Snowshoeing is an easy and affordable way to enjoy Utah's Wasatch Mountains. The Salt Lake City area offers miles of snowshoe trails, rental services, and guided tours.

Snowshoeing is a great way to get some exercise and experience the beauty of the Wasatch Mountains in a peaceful and relaxed manner. Snowshoeing is great for all ages and requires little experience to enjoy. Snowshoeing is relatively inexpensive when compared to participating in other winter sports – so get out and give Utah’s snowshoe trails a try. All prices are current as of the 2008/09 winter season.

Snowshoeing at Solitude Mountain Resort

Located in Big Cottonwood Canyon, the Nordic Center at Solitude Mountain Resort offers snowshoe rentals, guided tours, and 10 kilometers of snowshoe trails. If you have your own snowshoes, a pass for using the snowshoe trail system is only $5. Snowshoe rentals are available along with a variety of packaged deals. Try Solitude’s Adventure Package for a guided snowshoe tour by a local naturalist and learn about the geology and natural environment of Big Cottonwood Canyon. Rentals and trail pass are included in the tour fee ($30/adults and $20/children under 10).

Snowshoeing at Snowbird Mountain Resort

Located in Little Cottonwood Canyon, Snowbird is world renowned for its incredible ski terrain. When taking a day off from the slopes, snowshoeing is an excellent way to stretch out those legs and see the beauty of Snowbird at a more relaxed pace. The Activity Center at Snowbird provides snowshoe rentals and daily snowshoe tours leave the Snowbird Center at 1:30pm. Guided tours run $38 per person and include the cost of rentals. Private snowshoe tours can also be arranged.

Sundance Resort Snowshoe Trails

Explore beautiful Sundance Mountain Resort on snowshoe. Sundance has 10 kilometers of snowshoe trails that weave up and around the mountain and through the trees. Sundance provides rental services and private guided naturalist tours are available by reservation.

Snowshoeing Park City with White Pine Touring

An outdoor retailer and guide service in Park City, Utah, White Pine Touring offers guided snowshoe tours. Take a 3-hour guided tour into Park City’s backcountry with an experienced guide or try out a 1-hour moonlit snowshoe tour in Deer Valley’s Empire Canyon. Tours are completely customizable to the experience level of the group, so tours can range from a simple, beginner pace to a more adventuresome hard-core pace.

Snowshoe at Soldier Hollow Cross-Country Ski Resort

Explore Soldier Hollow, the home of the Nordic ski events of the 2002 Winter Olympics, on snowshoe. Snowshoe Soldier Hollow on the single-track snowshoe trails or alongside the groomed cross-country ski trails. For the adventure seeker, snowshoers can blaze their own trails through the snow-drifted mountainside. Rentals are available at Soldier Hollow.
